VE Day Celebrations at Marleigh Primary Academy
This week, Marleigh Primary Academy was filled with colour, creativity and community spirit as we came together to mark VE Day in style. Our celebrations honoured the bravery and sacrifice of those who served during the Second World War, while helping our children to understand the importance of remembrance and reflection.
Our youngest pupils in Reception took part in a meaningful activity by planting poppy seeds in Jubilee Square. With the support of staff, the children carefully sowed the seeds in a symbolic act of remembrance, contributing to a living legacy that will bloom for years to come.
Meanwhile, our Year 5 and 6 pupils were busy channelling their artistic talents into decorating bunting for a special community tea party. Each flag was carefully crafted with messages of thanks, historic symbols, and creative tributes to the era – bringing a vibrant and thoughtful touch to the celebrations.
Key Stage 1 children had the very important job of waving flags to add to the festive atmosphere. With broad smiles and enthusiastic cheers, they proudly helped to create a warm and joyful environment for us all to remember.
We are incredibly grateful to The Hill Group, whose support and collaboration helped to make the event such a success. Their commitment to community engagement and enrichment opportunities for our pupils continues to make a positive difference in our school.
The day was a wonderful opportunity for pupils to reflect on history and express themselves creatively. It was a celebration full of meaning, joy and shared purpose – and one that we will all remember fondly.
