As part of our exciting VE Day celebrations at Marleigh Primary Academy, we were thrilled to welcome a very special visitor to our school grounds today – a vintage 1940s Jeep! This iconic vehicle arrived with a unique and thoughtful delivery: a VE Day activity book for every child in the school.

The experience was made even more memorable when a small group of pupils were invited to explore the Jeep up close. The children thoroughly enjoyed climbing inside, examining its features, and learning more about its historical significance. The opportunity sparked thoughtful questions and curiosity about what life was like during the Second World War and how vehicles like this played such a crucial role during the period.

The visit formed part of a wider programme of VE Day events across the school, including poppy planting in Jubilee Square, bunting decoration for our community tea party, and flag-waving activities in Key Stage 1. The Jeep’s arrival was an engaging way to bring history to life and allowed our pupils to make meaningful connections with the past in a hands-on and memorable way.

We’d like to thank our visitors for providing such a powerful and inspiring learning experience – and for helping us mark VE Day in a way that our children won’t soon forget.
