On Tuesday 25th March, Marleigh Primary Academy held a thrilling Outdoor Adventurous Activities and Orienteering Festival, bringing together students from lower key stage 2 from both Marleigh Primary Academy and Fen Ditton Primary School. The event, which celebrated teamwork, kindness, and respect, kicked off under sunny skies, making for an unforgettable day of outdoor fun and learning.

The festivities began with a lively team-building activity that saw nearly 50 children participating in a conga line after engaging in a series of rock-paper-scissors games. The atmosphere was filled with energy and laughter as students worked together to break the ice and strengthen their bonds.

Following the team-building, the children  teamed up in mixed school groups for the main event: orienteering. For many of them, this was their first time learning how to read a map, and it was incredible to witness how quickly they picked up the skill. They navigated the school grounds with determination and enthusiasm, gaining a sense of accomplishment as they successfully completed the challenges set before them.

One of the highlights of the day was the opportunity to explore Marleigh’s Forest School area. Children were excited to immerse themselves in nature, using their new orienteering skills to discover the hidden corners of the forest.

A special shout-out goes to the Year 3 and Year 4 students, who participated with great enthusiasm and teamwork. The event also wouldn’t have been the same without the support of our three Year 5 Sports Leaders, who helped guide the younger students through the activities and Mr Parker’s planning and skills in delivery.

Overall, the Outdoor Adventurous Activities and Orienteering Festival was a huge success, showcasing not only the students’ growing skills but also the importance of collaboration, kindness, and respect in all school activities. Well done to everyone involved!
