House Captains Attend Children’s AI Summit in London
On Tuesday, 4th February 2025, our Year 6 House Captains had the exciting opportunity to attend the Children’s AI Summit at Queen Mary’s University in London. The event, held in partnership with LEGO, the NSPCC and the Alan Turing Institute, brought together young leaders from across the country to explore the future of artificial intelligence and its impact on society.
With an early start on the morning train into London amongst the city’s commuters, the children were buzzing with excitement for the day ahead. We navigated the bustling London Underground and made our way to The Octagon at Queen Mary’s University.
Throughout the day, our students took part in hands-on workshops, listened to pitches and presentations from other budding young minds and engaged in discussions about the ethical use of AI. The day explored how AI is shaping education, creativity and online safety. It was a proud moment to see our very own Hugo, Year 6, receive his runner-up prize and for Boaz, Year 5, collecting his prize as winner of the writing competition in the 8-12 category.
The experience was both inspiring and educational, sparking enthusiasm for technology and innovation. Our students returned to school eager to share their newfound knowledge with their peers and continue the conversation about AI’s role in our future.
A huge thank you to the event organisers, partners, parents and staff for making this incredible learning opportunity possible!
Hugo: “I’m so glad I was able to attend this once in a lifetime opportunity. The best part was the ‘A.L.Ex and the Improbots’ performance – it was hilarious!”
Hashir: “It was a really fun day for us. We enjoyed seeing our peers receive awards and listening to eager pitchers sharing their ideas.”
Mariyah: “I loved listening to peoples’ powerful speeches and learning more about AI and how it will impact our future. It’s exciting!”
Rishi: “This was my first ever summit and I liked how we were part of the conversation to influence the use of AI across the globe.”
Boaz (Vice Captain): “It was such an honour to be invited to this event. It was fascinating! I enjoyed when we built with Lego and saw some AI robots!”
