Mike Fish, Headteacher of Marleigh Primary Academy, will be stepping down from his role towards the end of December 2023. Colleagues at Anglian Learning and Marleigh Primary Academy would like to take this moment to thank Mike for his significant contribution to the success of Marleigh, from the early stages of the building of the school to welcoming the 100th pupil to the new academy.

Mike always dreamt of building a school community from scratch. Since the academy opened in September 2022, he has played a pivotal role in implementing the curriculum for pupils with a strong focus on STEM learning and ‘A Sense of Place’ a subject that has direct relevance to the local area.

Particular highlights during Mike’s time as Headteacher include the formal opening ceremony, where he welcomed children’s author, Michael Rosen, to officially open the academy. Mike also welcomed and gave a tour of the modern learning environment to local MP Daniel Zeichner. Mike was proud to see pupils’ artwork  featured on Sky Arts.

Mike has taken the difficult decision to leave to explore other opportunities and dreams. We wish Mike all the best with his future endeavours.

Bridget Harrison, who will serve as the Interim Headteacher with effect from 1 January 2024, will continue to work alongside Mike until the end of Autumn term to ensure of a smooth transition. We look forward to seeing Mike’s legacy for the academy continue to prosper for both staff and pupils.
